The Delta Flyer
was designed and built by the crew of the USS Voyager, in the episode "Extreme
Risk", in order to combat the rate of shuttlecraft loss. It combines
Starfleet and Borg technolgy, creating a unique multipurpose vessel, similar
in size to a Runabout.
The Delta Flyer is a highly aerodynamic vessel, capable of atmospheric flight,
and with field modifications is capable of underwater travel.
The Delta Flyer
has a tetraburnium/duranium alloy hull, with a light parametallic coating.
The Delta Flyer also has variable geometry warp nacelles, based on Voyagers
own propulsion system. New technologies include isomagnetic EPS conduits,
Unimatrix shielding (developed by Lt. Commander Tuvok) and a weapons array
which is based on Borg technology and includes Photonic Missiles (the weapon
systems were designed by Seven Of Nine).
